The quality of 3d polygonal models in video games has been getting better and better. back in the day I remember playing flight
simulators and car racing games that had horrible frame rates, no textures and very simple polygons. Entire buildings were
approximated by some cyan or magenta rectangular prism. These polygonal models are of almost photorealistic (or videorealistic?)
quality. I thought it'd be interesting to go the other way around and turn a real photo into something that resembled a 3d model
in a video game. I messed around with Illustrator and this is what came out. Basically I just traced over regions of similar
color and created triangles or relatively simple polygons. I filled each one with a uniform color.
here's what the first version looked like
I started using some filters to see what I could do... I think I just changed
the colors of some of the polygons on this one and set a border color.
I used the "tweak" command in illustrator
I don't remember what I did but it looks cool
 fragmented
 with rounded edges
